Birth & Beyond - Family Research Center

The Birth & Beyond Family Resource Centers provide free services to Sacramento County families, including support for pregnant moms and new dads. Services include parenting home visits, crisis intervention, school readiness, workshops, community referrals, and fun activities for the whole family!

Offers weekly in-home case management and parenting lessons using evidence-based programs like Parents as Teachers (ages 0-5) and Nurturing Parenting (ages 6-18). These programs promote positive parenting, empathetic parent-child relationships, and connect families to community resources and health education.

Crisis Intervention Specialist

The Intervention Specialist assists families with concrete support in times of need. Families receive advocacy and resources to address their immediate crisis. Domestic Violence Support Groups.

Mental Health

Behavioral Health Offers mental health counseling for children and youth (ages 0-21) and their families. Services include individual, family, and group counseling for emotional and behavioral challenges, provided at home, school, La Familia’s Maple Neighborhood Center, or other locations. Psychiatric services are also available, all with a strength-based, family-centered approach.

Advocate

La Familia’s Family & Youth Advocates provide family members with resources and parental support through the Children’s Mental Health Services program and Supporting Community Connections.

Supporting Community Connections (SCC) is Latino community support for all ages, open to anyone free of charge. The program connects the Latino community with suicide prevention resources and intervention training, risk awareness workshops, support groups, know your rights, older adult groups and events.

Older Adult Program

Provides services for older adults (55+) of diverse backgrounds in Sacramento County, offering resources, workshops (e.g., Physical Movement, Know the Signs), peer support groups, and events to improve mental, physical, and overall wellness, empowering them to regain control of their lives at no cost.

Centro de Apoyo Latino (CAL) Program supports Spanish-speaking Latino adults, offering immediate crisis intervention and connecting participants with long-term solutions through one-on-one navigation to community resources and peer support groups for sustained well-being.

Career Center

America’s Job Center of California {AJCC} Network provides ongoing workshops and services to assist community members with their employment needs. From job search to training services, we are dedicated to providing the range of assistance needed for job placement success. There’s computer lab access, resume and interview workshops, resource networking, typing tests, unemployment claim assistance, and much more.

Prison to Employment
Program (P2E)

provides workforce services to justice-involved individuals in the Sacramento region, including but not limited to assessments, case management, career exploration, education and training referrals, job placement, and support services.

Eligibility – 18yrs.old and above. Live in Sacramento County. Have criminal justice involvement within the last 5 years.

Out of School
Youth (OSY)

program helps youth ages 17-24 gain paid work experience and pursue further training with support from an Employment Training Specialist. It includes assessments and tutoring in Math and Language Arts to address any educational gaps.

Eligibility – Sacramento community members ages 17-24 years old who are out of school.

Special Projects

Regional Equity and Recovery Partnership promotes economic equity in underserved communities by developing public sector jobs and strengthening ties with Los Rios Community Colleges near Aggie Square. It provides training and job placement in public sector, IT, and business/administrative roles.

High Road Training Partnerships (HRTP) This program is to increase access to existing jobs for our underserved population create pathways for job growth and provide services to residents within Aggie Square and the surrounding area.

California Mobility Center – Green Tech Program La Familia recruits participants for CMC workforce training, offering support and case management to ensure program completion.

Digital Equity Program United Way and Sacramento State partnerships.  Provide assistance with computer skills, applications for free devices, and internet services.

Health & Wellness

Community Health Navigator Program

La Familia’s Community Health Workers provide assistance with the following:

  • Cal-Fresh/Medi-Cal enrollment and retention
  • Health educational workshops – preventative health measures, nutrition, emergency preparedness, and other health-related workshops.
  • Health resources and referrals.
  • Vaccinations clinics and resources.
  • Healthcare appointment assistance and scheduling COVID-19 information and resources.

Wellness Wednesday Workshops

Wellness Wednesday Workshops offer free sessions on health, wellness, and topics like climate events, water conservation, and ITIN, promoting community awareness and promoting optimal health and wellness.

Juntos Afuera Program

La Familia’s Juntos Afuera Program connects the community with nature through outdoor activities, promoting environmental stewardship for youth, families, and older adults.

Special Projects

VOE– La Familia hosts the Window of Education at the Mexican Consulate weekly to provide information and assistance regarding opportunities, programs, and educational services to 24 counties within the region.

OCPSC – La Familia works with the Governor’s Office of Community Partnerships and Strategic Communications (OCPSC) Campaign to bring public awareness and community engagement to California’s most critical issues such as the California Community Resource Guide, Youth Behavioral

Vaccination Services – Once a month, La Familia partners with Sacramento County Public Health to provide free on-site vaccinations for individuals who are uninsured or underinsured.

Community Wellness Hub  – La Familia is recognized as a community wellness hub in the South Sacramento area. La Familia works with Sierra Health Foundation and Sacramento County to provide holistic community needs, support services and resources for the community.

Hosting site for students and healthcare professionals – La Familia serves many local nursing schools and health organizations as a hosting site. We offer student internship opportunities to promote community health and cultural competence while also providing bi-monthly health services on-site. These services include dental and physical examinations through various partners.

La Familia offers a range of youth programs and workshops designed to empower our community’s youth through leadership training, civic engagement, violence and tobacco prevention, health education, internships, employment opportunities, and STEM education.

Project Reach

supports at-risk youth ages 10-21 from underserved populations, offering counseling, positive alternatives, and support to overcome challenges, prevent gang involvement, and achieve success. Contact for details.
